The summer of basketball kicks off in Korea with the King himself – LeBron James!! In the typically hoopla, the Korea team dedicated a basketball court for the AIR apparent. The boys had a great time and TEAM USA handled the Korea National Team with no problems. Unfortunately, they didn’t bring home the gold in Japan but chalk it up to another learning experience for the boys in red, white and blue.  Flickr Set.

World Cup 2006

13.07.2006

Finally it’s here. The World Cup 2006. It’s been both a long professional and personal journey. The games were amazing, the cheering red devils [8mg movie] were a sight to see and Germany was… German!! Sausages and all… I had a great time with the whole Korea team as the honorary Korean in the group!!

Even though the results weren’t what we wanted and we were sad for our boys in red, we couldn’t be prouder of them and we couldn’t have cheered more. Check out my Eggi JiYoung dancing her heart out for her National Team. GO REDS!!!

“Who are these guys, anyway?”
A quote from Jim Street / MLB.com

Baseball is known to be a game of records and statistics. But one nation had to be an exception. They challenged the predictions made based on records and proved that statistics are nothing more than numbers. Instead, they showed the world the very pure catalyst that burns up the passion for the game of baseball. And they showed the world one thing that was missing from numerous records and statistics: Tuhon (“the Korean fighting spirit”), the word that has been with them for the longest time.

Just Do It.

Ooohhh Canada, ooohhh Canada… wait?!?!?! That’s not it! Vince, what exit? VC takes his high-flying dunking ability to korea. more to come… :)

Also, as someone who works with athletes a lot, let me give you all some advice. NEVER let this happen to you… Tony who was managing hospitality for VC got caught in a picture doing a little digging!! UGH!!

…plus a a vintage VC Jam!!

JiSung Park… the fist asian (and korean) to play for the famed Manchester United! Me at the Press Conference. I’m quickly becoming that Korean looking foreigner standing next to that famous guy!

Korea’s new chosen one returned today from a physical in London. Park JiSung, the newest edition to the famed Manchester United and the first asian elected to the premiere sqaud is also Nike Korea’s newest manchild. We held a press conference for the signing and return and apparently i made it on TV. Check out the article (which is in korean) or the video (300k).

I Made It On Naver

03.05.2005

Korea’s first (and only) NBA player returns home to Korea… and spends some time with Nike doing the usual. Media interviews, autograph signings and media interviews. Now I’ve met some ballers before but this guy is HUGE (even Phil Knight agrees). He’s 7’4″ which is almost 20 inches taller than I – damn! And his return marked what I believe is my first appearance in any kind of Korean media… internet of course  – which would be the equivalent of Yahoo! News.

Go Korea Football

Game 3 of the Asia Region World Cup Qualifier. Going in we were 1-1 with a 2-0 loss to Saudi which was devasting. Pretty much a do or die situation with just the two 2 teams really going to the BIG dance. It was louder than I’d ever heard and with 2 goals by Nike stars DG Lee and JS Park all was good as we walked away with a 2-1 win and a share of first place in our bracket. Shot of the Red Devils cheering the boys on!!!

World Cup Qualifier

Lunar New Year. First Round World Club Qualifier. Kuwait. A great way to start our march to VICTORY! A freezing cold evening at -5 celcius with a slight breeze passing through Sangnam Stadium. JiYoung and I had awesome seats (HERE) and must have been good luck with the team getting to work right away, scoring a goal half way through the first half. The second half saw Kuwait wake up a bit with some offense, but the boys in red struck again sealing the 2-0 victory. Cornerkick!!

Golf in Korea

21.11.2004

Played golf at my favorite golf course REXFIELD (pictures * website) which is always a pleasure. Shot a not bad round of 89 but i think the scorekeeper was a little generous, so let’s just call it 90.

Now many of you have heard me talk about the extravagances of Korea golf courses. The high green’s fees: $200. The Caddy tip: $100. The full sauna. Bi + Tri-lingual caddies. The membership deposits of $400-600k (they treat them like stocks and can buy/trade/sell them at good profits). Now Rexfield is one of the best – hence one of my favorites, but after playing there 3 times, they managed to surprise me again. The logo/mascot for Rexfield is a Deer and on the 4th hold of the Valley course is yes… a mini-zoo, complete with DEER! Yes, right there, just off the fairway, chillin out… too funny!
