The nights are getting colder in shanghai so we ordered up some wood and fired up our little, living room chubby for a relaxing fire.

PD: The way it looks.  The way it smells and the amount of people and the tension in the air.  The way it looks at night.  There is no place in the world that looks like this place at night.  And at the heart of this place people are really trying to make it and survive.  This is not a place where people are trying to give up.  Even our homeless people have a certain fight and a certain swag about them.  Where it’s like they are fighting to stay alive.  This is not the place where you want to give up or just lick your wounds and cry.  This is the place where you have to get off your can and fight.  And that’s the thing, NY makes you a fighter.

My first trip to one of shanghai’s many counterfeit markets with the master JiYoung. Most of the product was pretty good… non leather bags, lv and coach stuff maybe the best; Chanel leather maybe the most obvious. Apparently they keep the really, really good stuff behind the double secret door in the back – nice! (not that I condone any of this :)

And since 1850! Nice… Looks like i’m moving up in the world!! Found this as in japan smart magazine (Jan).

Melinda – who just move to china – came up to shanghai for a visit over the christmas weekend. We all got lots of rest, chatted about life a lot, got our share of good shopping and delicious food. Such a good time. We hope she visits again soon!!
