It’s coming!

in what felt like a day, Japan went from 4 cases of Swine Flu to over 120!! School in Osaka have been closed and people are starting to panic. Word is that masks have already sold out in local stores and HasMat-like teams are inspecting planes before you can get off – making entry take about 1 hour! I hope everyone is ok and this is more hype than substance. Should I get a mask????

Tokyo is such a crazy place. I’m sitting in the bookstore where many people come to talk, coffee, read, work (me), etc … and the woman next to me – alone – left to do something. she’s been gone about 15 minutes and left her watch in plain site on the counter. such a trusting and fairly safe society it’s crazy in a way. I love it but it scares me.

1,080 meters atop Table Mountain

JiYoung and I atop Table Mountain in Capetown. 1,080 meters high and a 5km hike there and back. Exhausting for my old body but worth the amazing view over the Atlantic!

The Feast Part 2
07.05.2009
Two days after we saw the Lions feasting on the Giraffe carcass, we went back to the sighting at night and it was crazy! The lions were chowing away, tearing meat left and right and roaring up a storm!! From this pic, you can see the rib cage of the Giraffe – which was about 80% eaten. It was really an amazing sight to see and a real rarity.
