Two Japanese lessons and JiYoung is already ordering Chinese Food on the phone…

A huge MC Escher exhibit at the Bunkamura Museum. So cool but the ling was HUGE. I’m talking down the hall, up two flights of stairs and out the door. Crazy. We went on the last day (big mistake) and waited over 1 hour just to get in. The work was so cool and spanned his early work as a university student to his final days. We didn’t know he had a history with japan but his fans were everywhere.

We found this AMAZING Cake Shop in Ometesando!!! Uuuummm… Yummy!!

On January 25th we opened 1LOVE. A store completely dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the world’s most prolific shoe – the Air Force 1. The masterpiece is a glass cylinder that holds 240 white/white AF1′s that will slowly change out all year with new models coming every week. The opening event was fantastic with some of Nike’s longest and most respected friends (and some new ones…)  Here the crowd gathering. 700+ of Harajuku’s Who’s Who came out to celebrate with us.

January 23. My Yaebo’s Birthday!!! I took the day off to play with my baby in Tokyo. So much fun. Breakfast in bed, gifts, bike rides and dinner.

Happy Birthday Yaebo!!

The new year has just started in Japan and JiYoung and I headed to Hakone, a tranquil place of peace and harmony famous for Mt. Fugi and hot springs. From the picture, you can probably tell that we stayed in a traditional Ryoken or Hot Spring house. It was freezing but they had a beautiful outdoor spring build just for couples. Awesome. We spent time at some temples, checked out this amazing volcanic “spring” of sorts and stopped at the Takahara toy museum, owned by the richest toy collector in the world. Overall an extremely relaxing time and a great way to start off the new year. We HIGHLY recommend it!!  Flickr Set.
