Out of Whack?

Trying to balance feeling grounded and comfortable against falling into some mundane routine. :)

Happy Chinese New Year!

Monday, February 17th, 2003

Caught the Portland parade in chinatown – in the rain of course – and saw the immaculate chinese garden for the first time. It was indeed impressive even on a dark rainy night. Things are settling in ok, but I must admit that the weather is wacky! Venturing out this morning, it was sunny and pretty warm. 30 minutes in a furniture store and upon coming out – on and off rain showers and damp coldness. What is up with this place? Best of luck in this new year of the Ram!

nospoon.com

ugh! I thought I’d throw up a little interim site while I figure out where this whole nospoon.com thing is going for me – as I start my new life at Nike – but after 3 days of working on it, it’s ALMOST done. Coding is such a pain. And I think I’m getting sick after being exposed to Spinal Meningitis! Things are picking up and work and I’ve got to get some rest – so that’s all for now.

NBA All-Star Weekend

Monday, February 10th, 2003

49 Hours in ATL. All-Star Weekend Baby! Nike Park Battlegrounds. Wheels up to wheels down, it was a party not to be missed. Met some great new Nike peeps. Stood shoulder to chest to some of the NBA’s elite like Magic, Nique, Twan, Iceman, David Stern and Cuban. The Jordan party was off the hook with J5, the Roots, Ludacris, Eve and Ja Rule. And the Nike Battlegrounds Cage was equally bumpin’ with one-on-one play, MC battles Ludacris and the rising star – 50 cent. Fights in the hotel lobby, cops running all over the place, late night fries at the City Place Diner and pieces being flashed. The west in the first double overtime AS game capped it all off perfectly.

Good Mexican

Wednesday, February 5th, 2003

OK. A major milestone has been reached. For those of you who know me well, this will be very clear. First off, we need to establish the benchmark and all agree: The best, basic, what-you-see-is-what-you-get, no frills, tasty burrito is from Anna’s Taqueria in Boston. After living in Chicago, New Jersey and New York and sampling dozens of Mexican restaurants from all over the nation, I have finally found a comparable Super Beef, no beans, Hots to Annas. Una Mas right arond the corner from my new crib. Not better, but the closest substitute I’ve found in 4 years!

Things here are going well. Moved in the place, took the rig on a mini-road trip to Seattle and figuring it all out. More to come later. Off to Atlanta this weekend for the All-Star game. MJ’s last one and my new big boy, YAO!
